The AMF held workshops in Calgary and Edmonton over the past two weeks to assist with the rollout of the Post Production Grant program. Thank you to Jeslene Quinn and Amber Goldney from AMF for their time and efforts. We are also grateful to the Minister of Culture and Tourism and the Minister of Economic Development and Trade for creating this fund.
The goal is to use this program to grow and elevate Post-Production in Alberta. The application process is straight forward and the grant may be used to attract new business, hire more people and/or buy new equipment or some combination of the above. The AMF is very open, flexible and accomodating so if you are in any doubt as to whether or not you should apply or if you have any questions at all, please contact the AMF or any of the APPA Board members.
APPA worked closely with The Minister of Culture and Tourism and the AMF to create the Post Production Grant Pilot Program announced in March 2017. Details below:
The Post-Production, Visual Effects and Digital Animation Grant assists post-production companies with a labour based grant, encouraging activity in the post-production, visual effects and digital animation sector in Alberta. Organizations may apply for up to $200,000 in funding. Grants are calculated based on a percentage of specific Albertan labour expenses attributed to post-production, visual effects and digital animation services. Funding is awarded upon receipt of final reporting.
Pond5 has teamed up with APPA to offer members in good standing 50 free media clips and a further 10% discount on any other purchases using the discount code appasummer. This offer runs from June 1 until September 1, 2017.
Date: Wednesday June 28, 2017 Time: Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. Venue: Applied Electronics, Unit 90, 2175 29 Street NE, Calgary AB T1Y 7H8
AVID, Applied Electronics and the Calgary FCPUG are joining forces to host an amazing night for catching up with industry events and the post production community. Learn what AVID announced at NABShow 2017. Talk with other members of th community that attended the NABShow as well to learn more about what is happening in the industry. And enjoy some food and drinks thanks to our good friends at AVID.
Also on display will be (almost) the latest MacBook Pro with an OWC Thunderbolt 3 dock and a 27" Dell UltraSharp 4K monitor. Let's talk about the now and future of Thunderbolt 3.
Of course, no event would be complete without door prizes. In addition to the usual generous selection of swag from the floor Applied Electronics will be offering a copy of AVID Media Composer to one lucky attendee. Bring a business card for this draw.
The Minister of Cultural Industries announced the launch of the post production grant on Tuesday, May 23 at 9 am in Edmonton. The hard work of the past 2 years came to fruition on Tuesday. Details of the program will be available here: Alberta Film.
Stay tuned for events in Calgary and Edmonton regarding the grant program process - APPA will be assisting Alberta Film with seminars about the grant application.
